Graduated in Business Administration from FEA-USP, with extension at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Bordeaux École de Management, Fábio Scherma has 20 years of experience in the financial market, having worked at Banco do Brasil, Itaú-Unibanco, Santander (ex ABN Amro Real). He was active in the retail, middle market and wholesale segments, with extensive knowledge of products and services, as well as in the structuring of complex operations.

He has been in the BNDES' Energy Area since 2008, currently holding the position of Head of Department, leading six teams, with a total of 23 people, in the structuring and monitoring of operations in the wind, solar, gas thermal, energy distribution and energy efficiency, with a portfolio of R$38 billion in assets, distributed across 150 projects.

Furthermore, He worked directly in the structuring of financing for more than 60 projects, among which Lot A of the transmission complex of the Rio Madeira plants, financing for the GNA I thermoelectric plant (awarded by Latin Finance as Power Financing of the Year and Infrastructure Financing of the Year – Brazil in 2019) and the loan to the electricity sector known as Conta-Covid (awarded by Latin Finance as Deal and Loan of the Year in the Structured Finance and Project & Infrastructure Finance categories – 2020 and 2021), coordinated by the BNDES, which organized a syndicate of 16 banks to enable an operation worth R$15.2 billion in 2020.

He played a relevant role in the feasibility of the first issuance of infrastructure debentures in Brazil, as well as in the development of the BNDES' financing strategy via the capital market.
