Brookfield’s $444m ESR deal leads a 29-deal India week

For once, capital is solely flowing into India, not out of it.

Brookfield has agreed to buy ESR Group’s Indian warehousing platform for $444 million, one of the largest real estate transactions of the year and a clear vote of confidence in the country’s logistics and e-commerce infrastructure build-out from one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers.

The deal fits a broader pattern. All 29 transactions in this edition’s Deals Tracker were domestic, inbound or cross-border – for the first time in recent editions, no Indian company announced an outbound acquisition abroad.

Energy remained the busiest sector, accounting for eight deals, nearly a third of all activity, as solar, wind, hydro and grid-transmission players kept consolidating.

Public markets told a similar story. Our news tracker counted more than 20 IPO-related stories this week, from reports that Reliance Jio could list at a valuation above ₹12 trillion to fresh market debuts for Orient Cables, Vans Electroengineerings and Snapdeal parent AceVector.

Elsewhere, Infineon completed its acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, Marico took a 24% stake in Satya Nutraceuticals for ₹1,012 crore, and Sumitomo Corp agreed to acquire a 49% stake in HFE’s 500 MW Karnataka renewable project.

One M&A advisor recently received a €90,000 invoice from his virtual data room provider, nearly four times the original quote. We suspect he’s not alone.

We’re surveying dealmakers across the M&A Community to find out how common hidden VDR costs really are. Share your experience in just two minutes.

Weekly summary | October 2-8, 2026

The Deals Tracker logged 29 confirmed deals this week, the busiest edition in a month.

Energy was the clear leader with eight deals, nearly a third of all activity, as grid-transmission and renewable-power players did most of the consolidating: Adani Energy Solutions acquired Satara Power Transmission, Resonia took full ownership of Balsane Power Transmission, and Adani Power agreed a 770 MW hydropower joint venture with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power.

Real estate produced the week’s single largest transaction: Brookfield agreed to buy ESR Group’s Indian warehousing platform for $444 million, one of the largest logistics real estate deals of the year.

Nineteen deals were purely domestic, five were inbound and five were cross-border, including BPCL and Shell’s joint venture with Tiki Tar to enter India’s value-added bitumen market, and FORVIA’s seating-manufacture tie-up with the Anand Group.
