About

Joe Zeng has almost 20 years of expansive experience in the finance industry, including 12 years in private equity investments in Asia and China. His has strong experience in merger and acquisition, deal structuring and business operation in this region.

Mr. Zeng is a Managing Director and key senior team member of HOPU-Arm Innovation Fund. He led HAIF’s acquisition of 51% of ARM China, which created the largest semiconductor intellectual property licensing platform in China that supports a significant amount of the system on chips (SoC) and Internet of Thing (IoT) devices designed in China. This transaction enabled ARM China to further expand its presence in the Chinese market by developing and licensing semiconductor technology locally. Mr. Zeng also participated in managing ARM China as a member of ARM China’s supervisory board.

Mr. Zeng has been in the private equity investment industry in China and Asia since 2009. Before HAIF, Mr. Zeng worked at Citi Venture Capital International and Asia Climate Partners. In his private equity career of over a decade, he participated in growth and buyout investments in technology, healthcare, consumer, industrial and alternative energy sector.

Prior to 2009, Mr. Zeng was an investment banker focused on China transactions at Merrill Lynch, a research analyst covering the Asian oil and petrochemical sector at Goldman Sachs, and an M&A advisor with PwC, based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Mr. Zeng holds a Master of Business Administration from Yale University and a Bachelor from Fudan University.
