Battery storage
- Italy | Energy Dome has signed a global commercial agreement with Google to deploy its CO₂ Battery long-duration energy storage technology, supporting Google’s 24/7 carbon-free energy goals and backed by a strategic investment from Google.
- Portugal | Greenvolt will raise €150 million in a two-phase capital increase fully subscribed by KKR, reinforcing its utility-scale battery storage strategy and supporting a 4.3 GW pipeline across nine countries.
- Sweden & Poland | Lyten has acquired Northvolt’s BESS product portfolio and plans to restart manufacturing at the Northvolt Dwa facility in Gdansk by Q4 2025, following a $200 million equity raise to accelerate its expansion across Europe and the US.
- Sweden | Romania’s Monsson has acquired a 20 MWh battery storage project near Harryda from FuGen, taking full ownership and EPC responsibility as it accelerates its expansion in the Swedish energy storage market.
Hydroelectric
- Montenegro | EPCG and Norway’s NTE Energi have signed an MoU to explore joint investments in hydropower projects via Zeta Energy, targeting the Cehotina, Ibar, and Moraca rivers to expand Montenegro’s renewable capacity.
- Sweden | Bagnall Energy has received Swedish regulatory clearance for its planned acquisition of Downing Renewables & Infrastructure Trust (DORE), with the deal progressing toward court approval and completion in H2 2025.
Hydrogen
- Estonia & Spain | Repsol has acquired a minority stake in Stargate Hydrogen, strengthening its role as a strategic partner to scale Stargate’s next-gen electrolyser technology and expand green hydrogen deployment across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
- Germany | ENERTRAG has acquired a site in Prenzlau for a 130 MW green hydrogen plant set to produce 12,500 tonnes annually under the EU’s Hy2Infra program, marking one of the country’s largest IPCEI-funded hydrogen developments.
- United Kingdom | HydrogenOne Capital Growth has replaced its managers and appointed Redwheel to oversee a managed wind-down of its portfolio, citing scale limitations and prolonged underperformance in the hydrogen sector.
Solar
- Estonia | Enefit Green shareholders have approved the full takeover by Eesti Energia and the company’s delisting from the Baltic Main List, with the share transfer and finalization of the acquisition set for August 1, 2025.
- Germany | 1KOMMA5° has extended its €150 million pre-IPO round with Sabanci Climate Ventures joining as a new investor, to accelerate the growth of its Heartbeat AI platform and strengthen its lead in Europe’s home electrification market
- Germany | Orrön Energy has agreed to sell a 76 MW agrivoltaic solar project in northeastern Germany to Saxovent Renewables for up to €4 million, marking its first greenfield portfolio sale and advancing its monetization strategy.
- Italy | Zenith Energy has acquired a 3 MWp ready-to-build solar project in Puglia, advancing its goal to build a 20 MWp portfolio by end-2025 through its new solar-focused subsidiary, WESOLAR.
- Romania | Simtel Team has acquired the ready-to-build SMTL Solar Bughea project for €6.5 million, advancing its strategy to scale photovoltaic generation and storage capacity following recent regulatory clarity.
- Spain | DVC Partners will acquire an 80% stake in Soltec through a €30 million debt-to-equity transaction, enabling the solar tracker firm to reduce debt to €255 million and secure liquidity as part of its court-approved restructuring plan.
- Spain | Stoneshield Capital has acquired a 10% stake in solar developer Solaria for over €130 million, becoming its second-largest shareholder and marking its first entry into the renewable energy sector.
- United Kingdom | AGR Renewables has acquired a 70 MWp solar and 100 MWh battery portfolio near Eaton Socon from Cambridge Power, marking a key step toward its 2026 goal of 500 MW solar and 1 GW BESS in operation.
- United Kingdom | Lightsource BP plans to divest its UK solar O&M business, offering a 1.3 GW portfolio across 180 sites as a standalone, market-leading platform with long-term contracts and strong operational track record.
- United Kingdom | UK Power Networks Services acquires 68.7 MW renewable portfolio from SEEIT for £90.8M, deepening solar-led expansion strategy
Wind
- Germany | Qualitas Energy has acquired a 100 MW wind portfolio in Lower Saxony comprising three advanced-stage projects, expanding its 3 GW German pipeline as it targets repowering and greenfield growth across over 100 sites.
- Greece | Principia, jointly owned by Enel and Macquarie funds, has agreed to acquire a 150 MW portfolio of four operating wind farms from EDPR, raising its total installed capacity in the country to 727 MW.
- Serbia | The government plans to take over the Plandiste wind project from NIS and MET Renewables, aiming to accelerate completion and support national energy transition goals.
- Spain | Encavis has acquired a 199 MW hybrid wind and solar portfolio under construction near Zaragoza from BayWa r.e., marking its first wind investment in Spain and expanding its position as a pan-European clean energy supplier.
- Spain | Enel Group, via Endesa, has acquired the remaining 62.5% stake in Cetasa, taking full ownership of 99 MW of operational wind assets and 30 MW under development in Soria, in a deal valuing the company at €60 million.
- Spain | Equitix acquires majority stake in 350 MW wind portfolio from Capital Energy, with potential hybridization lifting deal value to over $1 billion; Capital Energy retains operational role and secures refinancing from OTPP and Incus.
- Spain | Equitix has formed a 50/50 partnership with TCorp to scale its hybrid renewable energy platform, targeting 1.4 GW by 2030 and building on a portfolio of 200 MW in operation and 1 GW of exclusive pipeline assets.
- Spain | Opdenergy has acquired 440 MW of operational wind assets across six regions from Acciona Energía for over €500 million, expanding its operating capacity to 2.4 GW and strengthening its position as a long-term independent power producer.
- Sweden | OX2 has acquired the permitted Fageråsen wind project in Dalarna’s SE3 zone from Eolus and Dala Vind, adding up to 34 turbines and 700 GWh of annual output to its long-term ownership portfolio.
- United Kingdom & Ireland | Macquarie has acquired 100% of Erova Energy, a UK-Ireland based renewable asset optimiser providing PPAs, balancing, and energy supply services, to support the company’s expansion across European energy markets.
- United Kingdom | Aquila European Renewables has paused exclusive talks with its preferred bidder after a lowered offer reduced both price and asset scope, prompting the board to reassess portfolio sale options amid a challenging market.
- United Kingdom | Greencoat UK Wind has agreed to divest £181 million worth of interests in three wind farms—including a 1% stake in Hornsea 1 and partial holdings in Andershaw and Bishopthorpe—bringing total disposals to £222 million as it reduces gearing and supports its buyback programme.
