Battery storage
- Germany | Foresight Group is eyeing investments in the German battery storage market, targeting short-term, high-yield opportunities from ancillary services in its early-stage phase. Partner Richard Thompson noted that while these markets tend to saturate quickly, they currently offer significantly higher returns, making timing a key factor in the strategy.
- Poland | GoldenPeaks Capital has acquired two battery energy storage projects totaling 54 MW / 216 MWh, both awarded 17-year capacity market contracts in the 2024 auction, expanding its Polish BESS portfolio to 124 MW and positioning BESS as a strategic growth pillar.
- United Kingdom | The National Wealth Fund to invest £50m in AMP Clean Energy alongside majority owner Asterion Industrial Partners, accelerating the rollout of community-scale battery storage and industrial decarbonisation projects across the UK.
EV
- Switzerland | Dongguan Mentech Optical & Magnetic will acquire a 60% stake in ABB E-mobility’s AC charging unit, ChargeDot, with ABB retaining 40% and refocusing on ultra high-power DC charging; deal closing is expected in Q4 2025 pending regulatory approvals.
- United Kingdom | Igraine PLC has signed a collaboration agreement with Homerun Resources’ European arm to develop UK EV charging infrastructure integrated with battery storage, starting with a pilot for a major automotive manufacturer and targeting rapid-deployment commercial solutions for fleet and C&I clients.
Hydrogen
- Denmark | GeoPura has acquired assets and staff from bankrupt Green Hydrogen Systems, establishing GeoPura (Europe) as a Danish electrolyser support hub to maintain its A-Series fleet and expand operations beyond the UK.
- Germany | Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has acquired a 70% stake in H2APEX’s IPCEI-backed Lubmin hydrogen project, securing funding for its first 100 MW phase targeting 10,000 tpa of green hydrogen production by 2028, with feed-in to the Flow pipeline and plans to scale to over 1 GW long term.
- Netherlands | The EU has approved DIF Management and Virya Energy’s joint takeover of hydrogen producer Dhyve, which via VoltH2 is developing six green hydrogen plants in the Netherlands and Germany totaling over 500MW for completion between 2027–2029, finding no competition concerns under the EU Merger Regulation.
- United Kingdom | Four Zeros Energy and Norway-based Vergia have partnered to develop a UK-wide portfolio of green hydrogen projects, starting with the St Austell facility in Cornwall shortlisted under HAR2, aimed at replacing natural gas in local mining operations and supporting the UK’s 10GW low-carbon hydrogen target by 2030.
Solar
