According to Red Eléctrica’s estimates, 2023 will be a pivotal year for Spain: the projections indicate that renewable energy could reach 50% of the annual electricity generation and an annual growth rate of 2.80% (CAGR 2023-2028).
The trend seen so far seems to confirm that: the share of renewable energy generation in January was almost 60 percent, then it dropped to around 45 percent in February, and rose back to over 50 percent in March. Also, the installed capacity of solar and wind in Spain will be 58GW this year, increasing by 8.2GW year-on-year (last year, Spain installed around 5.9GW of renewable capacity, bringing the total to 67.9GW in 2022).
