India M&A activity surges as record IPO rush builds

It was a bumper week for Indian dealmaking in both volume and value.

This edition’s Deals Tracker logged 41 transactions, up from the 29 we counted last edition. Energy remained the busiest sector for a second straight week, accounting for 12 deals as solar, wind, oil & gas and grid-transmission players kept consolidating, with Industrials close behind on nine.

Public markets were just as crowded. Our news tracker counted more than 40 IPO-related stories this week, led by Jio Platforms’ push for what could be India’s biggest-ever listing – reports put demand above $20 billion ahead of its ₹30,213 crore offering opening 21 October.

It’s a world away from other markets: the London Stock Exchange raised just £577 million across seven IPOs in the whole of H1 2026, according to EY-Parthenon, a fraction of what Jio Platforms alone is targeting in a single float.

Weekly summary | October 9-15, 2026

The Deals Tracker logged 41 confirmed deals this week, up from the 29 we counted last edition and the busiest week we’ve tracked.

Energy was the clear leader with 12 deals, as solar, wind, oil & gas and grid-transmission players did most of the consolidating: Maxgrow India acquired a 74% stake in Hurricane Windfarms, Power Grid Corporation bought the Jam Khambhaliya transmission SPV for ₹19.22 crore, and the Authum-Inox consortium completed its acquisition of Wind World (India) out of insolvency.

Industrials was close behind with nine deals, as auto-component and engineering consolidation continued: RR Kabel completed its acquisition of rival cable maker U M Cables, StarlinePS took a 33% stake in Celloraa Energy’s planned solar-cell manufacturing plant, and Embraer agreed to buy a 51% stake in Mahindra & Mahindra’s Novavayu aerospace joint venture.

The week’s single largest disclosed transaction was an asset sale rather than a stake deal: Ganesh Benzoplast agreed to divest its logistics storage terminal (LST) business for ₹1,154 crore to Cisternina Logistics, a platform backed by KKR.

The vast majority of this week’s deals were domestic. At least five crossed borders: inbound buyers included Brazil’s Embraer, and Canada’s Info-Tech Research Group, while outbound dealmaking saw India’s AXISCADES Technologies complete its acquisition of Switzerland’s Ulosia Holding AG and Univastu India acquire Cambium Networks’ ePMP enterprise business out of administration.
