About

Laurie Barkman is the founder and CEO of SmallDotBig, a value creation firm advising mid-market business owners anticipating a future ownership transition. Laurie is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University teaching a masters level course on corporate innovation.
During her 25+ year career, Laurie has created value through digital transformation, and has buy-side and sell-side due diligence experience. Laurie was CEO of a privately-held company acquired by FedEx and is the former Managing Partner of a boutique private equity fund.
Laurie serves on the Advisory Board for Safety io, a subsidiary of MSA Safety Incorporated and is Board Chair for The Center for Ageless Entrepreneurs.

Laurie earned her MBA from The Tepper School of Business, and BS from Cornell University. She is a Certified Value Builder Advisor, has a Certificate in Exit Planning, and is a National Speaker with Vistage.

As host of the Succession Stories Podcast, Laurie curates conversations with business owners and entrepreneurs about growth, innovation, and transition.

She lives in Pittsburgh PA with her family, and is originally from Albany, NY.
