This week’s transactions span BESS, offshore wind, solar, biomethane, grid infrastructure and energy services, while potential asset sales and ownership changes keep the market moving.
According to BloombergNEF’s Central and Southeast Europe Energy Market Outlook 2026, solar capacity across six markets in the region is forecast to increase by 93 GW between the end of 2025 and 2036.
However, falling prices and grid connection constraints are shifting investment focus towards flexibility, with batteries, transmission infrastructure and power purchase agreements becoming increasingly important to project economics.
Deal of the Week: Ares Infrastructure Equity funds have acquired a significant minority stake in Statera Energy’s operational portfolio, marking Ares’s first investment in Europe and highlighting continued institutional interest in flexible energy infrastructure.
Elsewhere:
- Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners II acquired FRV’s 100 MW / 400 MWh ready-to-build Nivala battery storage project in Finland, with operations expected to begin in the second half of 2028.
- CIP and EDF separately acquired stakes in the 1.1 GW Five Estuaries offshore wind project in the UK, underscoring investor interest in large-scale offshore wind development.
- Acciona is negotiating with Ardian and the EQT–Norges Bank consortium over potential offers for control of Acciona Energía.
