It was a slow week for energy M&A, with just 10 deals featuring in our tracker.
That could be reflecting a broader trend, with analysis from Forvis Mazars and Mergermarket revealing that deal volumes are softening across Southern Europe even as values climb.
The study counted 1,858 M&A transactions in the first half of 2026, 6% fewer than a year earlier, yet total value rose 37% to EUR 147.7 bn. While the study is not energy-specific, Forvis Mazars’ Alberto Martínez lists the energy transition among the long-term trends likely to keep activity going in the second half.
Our deal of the week: TAURON acquired the BME Jawor energy storage project in Poland, with a power capacity of 28.27 MW and an energy capacity of 120 MWh. Commissioning is scheduled for February 2027, highlighting continued investment in storage assets.
And the Ideals-M&A Community team compiled the new deals announced during September in the renewable energy sector in Spain and Portugal – and PV magazine has published the full list.
