João is a Founding Partner at Atena Equity Partners. Atena pursues control-oriented special situations in Portugal, and is currently investing its 75M€ second fund whose beneficiaries are EU and US institutional investors.
Before founding Atena, João was a Partner at Explorer Investments, a Private Equity firm in Portugal with ~€1.000M AuM.
Prior to Explorer, João was a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (01-07) in Lisbon and New York – where he integrated the Private Equity team and performed business due diligences on several deals with an aggregate value of more than €10.000M.
João has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BSc from Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
